Sabrina Lee Releases “Hurt”.
Written by: Sarah Evangelista
Starting her music career at age fourteen, pop/alternative artist by the name of Sabrina Lee always had a stride to achieve her goals. Now, aged seventeen, she has released three pop anthems, including her newest track, “Hurt”. With influences like Halsey, Jessie Reyez, and Post Malone, her music merges them all together to create a popular yet unique style of sound.
The three and a half minute tune expresses one of the not-so sunny parts of a relationship; overthinking. Questions like, ‘did I do something wrong?’, ‘why did they act like that then?’, ‘should I have done something differently?’, have all crossed people’s minds while dating someone. It’s only normal, but Sabrina Lee’s new song captures the theme of overthinking perfectly.
“Hurt” is the kind of song where you don’t realize how meaningful the lyrics are, until you focus on them. Mainly because the beat captures your attention before anything else, it’s just so good. “Hurt” makes you realize that sometimes you’re the one hurting yourself, and not the other way around. It’s a reality check you should listen to.
