To kick off their run in the US, Toronto-based, indie-pop band Valley took to Philadelphia last Tuesday to a sold-out show at the Theatre of Living Arts, with support from Florida’s very own Aidan Bissett.

Aidan Bissett and his band brought a contagious energy to the crowd with a set that was made for dancing. Along with playing a few unreleased tracks, Bissett played crowd favorites such as “All That I’m Craving” and a Kings of Leon cover of “Sex On Fire” – something everyone could sing along to.

Valley

Valley’s set began with four boxy televisions playing scenes from Breakfast at Tiffany’s intercepted by footage of the band. The movie’s sound gradually faded into a synth track that matched the chords to their killer of an opening song “There’s Still A Light In The House.” A few songs from Valley’s forthcoming album Lost In Translation made their way into the group’s set and included older cult classics from their 2019 Maybe album. Criminally underrated but always appreciated “Sports Car” got its chance to shine nearly four years after its initial release on the Maybe album. Fans knew the lyrics to even their newest singles “Break For You” and “Good, but not together,” both of which will be appearing on Valley’s upcoming album.

Lead singer, Rob Laska asked the crowd during an interlude if they had been to a Valley show before, referring specifically to the Theatre of Living Arts when they opened for The Band Camino in 2019. He and the band were gracious to be back, except this time as headliners in the same venue. On behalf of the band, Laska not only thanked the fans for sticking around but the crew as well for helping put on productions like these.

Keeping the energy, Valley teased a few unreleased tracks from Lost In Translation. Fans heard “Natural” and “Have A Good Summer (Without Me)” for the first time ever live, an arguably unmatched listening experience. With 24 more shows and 19 more cities, please don’t miss your chance to catch Valley live for their Lost In Translation Tour. Find their setlist here and a few of my personal favorites here.
