Straight From a Heist Scene: Tobias Dray drops “Espada Primo”.

The moment you press play on the song, you are transported to a high-stakes heist scene, equal parts breathtaking and fun. French composer and social media celebrity Tobias Dray created “Espada Primo” with exactly that image in mind, directly inspired by the feel of action movies such as Ocean’s Twelve. The 25-year old musician has put his own fresh spin on the indie-electronic genre, making waves with this unique new single.

If one word could be used to describe the song’s feel and Dray’s overall style, it would be “funky”. The track is reminiscent of a video game soundtrack, with its quick bouncing beat, striking baseline, and echoing vocals. His online persona mirrors this vibe, as he has become known for his distinct style (most notably, a collection of especially funky hats).

Dray has been gaining traction for some time, going viral for his Tik Tok videos of Omegle encounters and then gaining recognition from Spotify on the ‘Lorem’ and ‘Fresh Finds’ playlists. It’s become clear that this artist is one to watch: Tobias Dray is tough to pin down, but he reveals bits of his inner groove one song at a time.
