Sven Gamsky, AKA the stage name Still Woozy recently released his full length project If This Isn’t Nice, Then I Don’t Know What Is, and I can speak for everyone here that its been on repeat. The 13 track project, featuring singles “Rocky”, “That’s Life”, and “Window”, speaks about topics like mental health, relationships, all while keeping the soundscape we all know and love.
We got the chance to ask Still Woozy a few questions, with the help of our friends at 1824:
There’s a ton of little sounds to be heard throughout your music. Have you ever heard a weird sound, recorded it, and is now in one of your songs?
I’m sure I probably have - I used to record my friends in a lot of the earlier stuff. I think in “Vacation” I actually have my friends just making noise in the background. Also, I remember playing a show, in I think Minneapolis, and the openers were on. I could hear the crowd jumping, and the floor felt like it was going to collapse - we were in the green room. I recorded that and I think I put it in a song, one of the earlier songs.
If This Isn’t Nice, Then I Don’t Know What Is is your debut full length project, how do you feel it represents you as an artist?
I feel like it represents kind of like the spectrum of stuff that I want to pursue more. It’s really like dipping the toes into whatever it is. There’s just so many things that I want to try and there’s just not enough time. This time around, I feel like there’s more rock and roll shit, with some acoustic stuff, and some more beat heavy stuff. I don’t want to be put on a block, I just want to keep going. There’s too many influences out in the world to just make one kind of music.
