Noah Jack is an ex-FIT student pursuing his knack for production in this track exploring the fight against societal norms, and staying true to oneself.

The producer-artist starts the song with a catchy melody paired with an upbeat accompaniment, which repeats throughout the song between sung and rapped verses. The beat coming in at 0:38 adds depth to the existing soundtrack, although it feels like he’s gone a bit too heavy on the autotune. The rapped verse seems to give the song a sudden shift in intensity, which really makes the song, without it the track would’ve definitely been lacking.

Noah Jack’s lyrics mentioning commonly recognized names like ‘Tamagotchi’ allow the listener to make an instant connection to the song. This song is meant to be about “fighting the allure of being seen as normal and continuing to be yourself.” The use of these mainstream brands makes an interesting point in how ‘safe’ it feels to be normal, in the same way we feel safe and are reminded of our childhoods by these items. The remaining lyrics of the line using Tamagotchi are “you only take me out when you want me/ put me back into your pocket/ I’ve been hungry for some lovin/ can you spot me” which brings the listener out of that “safe” feeling and immediately into the opposite.
