Maki Flow is an emerging pop artist from London and her latest track “Everything I’m Not” is sure to get you addicted.

The artist’s newest single is a cross between Nu-Disco and Pop and truly showcases her skills as a songwriter and a producer. The rhythm and beat is reminiscent of a dance track you might hear on a night out, and this contrasts beautifully with resonant synthesizer lines and chords. Soaring vocal lines flow with background embellishments and harmonies, blending into an iconic and timeless sound.

“Everything I’m Not” is, on the surface, a dance-pop gem. As you listen closer, you realize it’s also so much more than that. About the song, Maki states that it’s “the most honest song I’ve ever released … it reminds me of a time when I was really struggling loving myself. I’ve always been a very insecure girl and I have this tendency of feeling out of place everywhere I go.” It’s not surprising that many can relate to her feelings, especially given all that’s happened in the past year.

Maki says, “I hope [“Everything I’m Not”] can help people to feel less lonely whenever they feel they’re not enough.” And this is just what the track does – it shouts our insecurities to the world, helping us accept who we are and at the same time, lets us know we’re not alone.

Maki Flow is a powerful artist to keep on your radar. We, for one, can’t get enough of her, and can’t wait for her debut EP, “Can’t Act My Age,” set to release later this year.
