BabyJake’s newest single, “Do I Fit In Your Shoes”, will be one of the coolest songs you’ll hear this year.
The engaging track flawlessly combines pop, rap, and alternative, meaning there’s something on this song for everyone. The lyrics describe the frustration BabyJake, aka Jake Herring, feels towards the music industry and how he just wants to make it, with snappy lyrics like “I got enough insider footage with my foot inside my mouth” and “The label caught a mil but I still ain't seen a scratch”. His unique voice and style of rapping will keep you hooked on this track, and the addictive chorus will keep you coming back again and again. Perhaps the best part of “Do I Fit In Your Shoes” comes in the form of the post-chorus, with killer bass and pitched up vocals that almost sound like they’re straight out of a hit you’d hear on your favourite alternative radio station in 2016 (in the best way possible, of course). This manages to give the song an almost nostalgic feel to it, despite being released mere weeks ago. The only detriment to this song is that despite being 2 minutes and 45 seconds long, it almost feels too short, as if there should be just a little bit more. Although, that could just be because it’s the type of song you never want to end.
You’d be hard-pressed to find another artist with a similar sound to that of BabyJake. With his distinctive sound and style, he’s about to take over the world - one playlist at a time.
