Alex C. Mills Releases “Can’t Keep Up The Pace”.

Written by: Julia Jade

Austin-based cosmic country artist Alex C. Mills has just released the perfect sad two stepping bop that is about to be the new soundtrack of your artsy, indie-movie life. Alex’s satisfying vocals accompanied by a subtle glockenspiel make this sad song endearing, bringing charm to the overwhelming moment it’s depicting. Mills sings “It’s hard to see everything, every single day.” “I’m trying to be a place of peace but disdain runs through my veins.” Did Alex C. Mills just write the compassion fatigue anthem we didn’t know we needed?

(Also, the ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ nerd in me has to say that I wish this song existed when the movie came out because this is very ‘a la Charlie’ when he talks about how he can’t unsee people’s pain and he feels overtaken by it. Just saying...)

If you “don’t listen to country,” I recommend you get over yourself, because you will be missing out on your new favorite tune. This song is well crafted and belongs on your ultimate indie playlist. Roll down your windows and blast this classic as you drive down the open road, and maybe give Alex a follow on Spotify while you’re at it. This amazing song feels like it’s only the beginning of what’s to come.
