New York, NY @ Webster Hall

Alt-pop duo DWLLRS lit up Webster Hall this past February with their electric set. The pair opened for Claire Rosinkranz’s winter-into-spring “Just Because” 2023 tour, accompanying her on the trip to New York.

It didn’t take long for the crowd to warm up to Bren and Joey. Within the first couple of chords of “Beauty Rains,” it was clear the audience was in for a treat. Bren took the mic stand while Joey took to the synth and both worked well together onstage, bouncing energy from the crowd to one another with ease. Even with a limited set, they were able to include an unreleased song titled “Driving,” which was slated for release in the following month. The audience danced and hummed along to their final and most streamed song on Spotify, “Blue Spirits.”

The feel of DWLLRS music is best described as an acoustic set with poppy and synth elements, best listened to with friends on a night in. With the crowd like it was at Webster Hall and the energy just right, seeing them perform felt like that – friendly, familiar, and feel-good.

After they wrap with their support for Claire Rosinkranz’s tour, DWLLRS will embark on a small college tour around the west coast. Be sure to catch them at a university near you.
