Chappell Roan opened her show unlike any other artist I’ve ever seen. Instead of having a musician as an opening act, she has three local Vancouver drag queens and kings perform. It was so much fun, and brought up the energy in the room even more. She opened her set with the first song on the album, “Femininomenon”, and then proceeded to play (almost) every song on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. I felt just about every emotion possible at this show, from love, to sadness, to rage, and excitement. Not only did Chappell put on an amazing show, she was also about to create this beautiful, safe space for the queer community to get together and have an absolute blast.
