Montreal, QC @ Club Soda
Briston Maroney’s audience packed up Montreal’s Club Soda after having the venue upgraded from Le Studio TD.
I discovered “Freakin’ Out On The Interstate” during 2020’s quarantine and immediately fell into his discography, falling in love with his Carnival EP. Ever since then, I have been patiently waiting for a stop in Montreal during one of his tours. The day came on February 5th.
Opening the show was Phoebe Go, an Australian alternative artist. She handled the big stage on her own, singing previously released singles and her newest one “7 Up”, too. The crowd loved her and she felt the same, saying “I promise I’ll be back”.
Briston Maroney and his three piece band first introduced themselves with the upbeat “Body” off of his latest project Ultrapure. In an interview with EUPHORIA, Maroney mentioned the meaning of the word as “impactful moments at all stages of life”. They continued the show playing songs off of the beloved Big Shot, Carnival and Indiana EPs, and Sunflower and his latest full-length. The audience knew the words to every song and were not afraid to dance.
To say the least, this show was ultrapure.
