After taking a nine month break, the band Why Don’t We is back with their new album The Good Times And The Bad Ones, Here’s our track-by-track review of the new project!

Track 1: Fallin’ (Adrenaline)”

Starting the album off with a hit, the lead single that was released back in September 2020 is a fun and upbeat track for fans to dance and sing to. The three minute song takes listeners into the world of love and how it can make you do crazy things. From the heavy drum solo at the start to the perfect harmonies all the way to the end, the band sets the album up for high expectations.

Track 2: “Slow Down”

This next track perfectly shows the range the band can achieve, by going from a heavy rock song to a more laid back and calm sound with “Slow Down”. The three minute track shows how fast life can flash by and is a reminder to slow down, whether it be with life or with a relationship. The song has a fun guitar playing throughout the whole track as well as the boys playing their own instruments, along with vocals and lyrics that are sure to get stuck in your head.

Track 3: “Lotus Inn”

The bands third track shows a story of having the best night of your life, and hoping you can relive it over and over again, with lyrics like ‘Baby, we could turn back time, Do it all over again, Tomorrow we can press rewind, We're staying at the Lotus Inn.’ or ‘I wish the sun would look the other way, 'Cause I never want this night to end.’ After this track we’ll definitely be booking a room at the Lotus Inn!

Track 4: “Be Myself”

This next song is definitely one that everyone can enjoy lyrically and musically. “Be Myself” is a track about having anxiety and depression and what it’s like to deal with it. The track was written when member Jack Avery came forward to his other bandmates and told them he was struggling with anxiety, as support and a way to talk about it “Be Myself” was created. Along with the beautiful instrumental the song has deep and touching lyrics for listeners such as ‘We're dancin' on the edge of anxiety's ledge, And I might fall again, I might fall.’ and ‘Oh, take me somewhere I am free, Free to be myself, and nothin' else.’

Track 5: “Love Song”

Changing to a more upbeat pop sound this track takes listeners into what it’s like to go from being alone to in love with someone. The two minute track talks about taking time to work on yourself and then being swept off your feet by someone you never saw coming, it shows how your life can be changed completely within a few second and in the bands case shows how many love songs you can write when you’re inspired by a special someone.

Track 6: “Grey”

This next track is not only the most recently released single for the boys but also a very different sound for them. This song is about the pain of being without or letting go of someone who was very close to you, and how life changes and turns everything in your life grey and dark. The track uses a full orchestra to back the heartbreaking vocals of the Why Don’t We boys. If you like emotional songs but also stunning orchestra sounds then this song is perfect for you.

Track 7: “For You”

Bringing back the upbeat and fun sound this three minute track is about being done with someone you might still have feelings for and trying to explain that you’ll be there for them no matter what even if they might not want you in their life anymore. The song uses a fun club like beat at the course that makes the song even catchier, and with the cute and honest lyrics about wanting to prove you’ll be there this song is sure to get stuck in your head in no time!

Track 8: “I’ll Be Okay”

This next song is a more upbeat and techno or retrosound for the boys. The three minute track talks about being absolutely in love with someone and trying to explain how much you need their love. This song is so good it even inspired the album title with the lyrics ‘We did it for the good times and the bad ones’. From the instrumental to the happy tone of the song it’s sure to get anyone dancing! Even the guys think it's a hit, ending the track with ‘Oh, shit, yeah, that sounds sick’.

Track 9: “Look At Me”

Moving on to the shortest track on the album this one minute track takes a more mature tone than the other tracks on the album. This track talks about appreciating your partner's beauty during the more intimate parts of the relationship. The band also snuck two references to other songs with lyrics like ‘Do what you want to me nobody gotta know referring to an older love song they have called “Nobody gotta know” and ‘Not so fast I think we need to slow down’’ referring to the second track on this album. So if you’re looking for a “spicy” song then this is the song for you.

Track 10: “Stay”

The band ends the album just as strong as they started it, this two minute track is about wishing things could go back to the way they were before you finally realized you’re better off without someone so that you could stay in love, but no matter how bad you want to stay things will never be the same. The song has a fun sound and vocals that are easy to enjoy, this song is a song anyone can blast and jam out to!

Once again Why Don’t We outdoes themselves by creating an amazing new album! Make sure to keep and eye and ear out for these guys, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!
