The heavy-hearted lyrics, coupled with an upbeat melody, create an interesting juxtaposition that is able to captivate audiences with its memorability and relatability.
As an homage to Ricky’s late father, and the other losses in his life, I think this song is more relevant than ever.
The COVID-19 pandemic can be characterized through loss, grief, and even fading connections more generally. Hopefully, songs like Talk to You can offer the sense of comfort, and a feeling of being understood, that not any artist can effectively provide.
