Maya Malkin Speaks About Women-hood and Toxic Relationships in ‘Congratulations’ - an Interview.

Now based in Toronto, indie pop artist by the name of Maya Malkin recently released her debut album Congratulations. Some songs being in the vault for years, Malkin touches on subjects such as being a woman, toxic relationships, and standing your ground on this project.
Opening with “Free Britney (Intro)”, Malkin and producer Jacky Levare had the intention to strip her vocals and say ‘look at me, I’m vulnearable and miserable’, inspired by the Free Britney movement.
“Everyone was either like ‘me too’ or ‘I know somebody’. I remember thinking back to how we had perceived that, because I lived through it. Now as an adult, I’m like "‘of course she shaved her head and hit somebody with an umbrella!’
