Major heart eyes with MAX’s “Butterflies”.

Pop artist MAX has us smiling like a kid with a crush with his latest single, “Butterflies.” This is the most wholesome track and it’s so evident that he’s so very in love. The single acts as a kind of sequel to his breakout song “Lights Down Low,” which he actually wrote to propose to his wife, Emily. “Butterflies” was written to renew their vows five years later.

The track is pretty simple instrument-wise, but that adds to the point. There’s no need to sugarcoat or exaggerate anything. The love MAX feels is straightforward and just makes sense, as reflected in the style of the song. A tempo and percussion part written perfectly for slow dancing. A romantic arpeggiated guitar. An angelic bridge complete with “oohs” and “ahs.” This is what being entirely captivated by a person sounds like.

The entire message of “Butterflies” is just that – you give me butterflies. It’s cliché but it’s so pure and innocent and genuine. “I still fall in love with you // Every time I see your eyes.” “You won’t stop running through my mind // For the rest of both our lives.” Like a schoolkid crush or your very first love, that’s what the feeling is – giddy, smiling from ear-to-ear, and completely head over heels.

I’m totally pining over this song and its concept. Finding your person, growing with them, and falling more in love each day. MAX hits the nail on the head.

Stream “Butterflies” here and get your tickets to see him on his Live In Colour Tour happening later this year!
