Interview with Twinnie.

Interviewed by: Sarah Evangelista

A month before Christmas, indie artist by the name of Twinnie released her holiday tune “Elf Yourself”. We got to chat with her about the single, “Bad Bad Bitch”, and what’s to come in the new year.

Do you remember the first song you ever made? What did it sound like?

Yes, it was called “This True Love Wasn't Meant To Be” and it was more of a poem which I wrote when I was 6 years old and it was about my mum and dad divorcing, and I showed my parents it and they didn't believe me that I'd wrote it because they thought "this has not come from a 6 year old" but that's when I really started writing.

You recently released "Bad Bad Bitch", what was the creative process like for this track?

The creative process for the track was really cool. I worked with Lindsay Rimes and we just built off the demo that we did on the day and it was kind of just touching it up but it was really cool to go back and visit it and just add on the finishing touches. I love that it crosses the country genre as well as pop and I really enjoyed doing the video. I think the video highlights so many aspects of how when you get triggered in a relationship, you know people do crazy things when they're in love.

"Elf Yourself" is the complete opposite of the classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You". What was the initial thing to spark the whole song?

My best friend Lucie Silvas and her husband John Osborne from Brothers Osborne played it to me because I'm working a Christmas project and they thought it might be good fit for that and I was like "I love this" and I just think it's the perfect present to send to your ex or somebody you don't like, and I just love the title and yeah, props to them, I just think it's brilliant.

What are the major differences you found between writing christmas and regular music?

Christmas songs vs regular music, I guess it's the same thing but it's the production that really makes it different for me and the concept of the song is usually more upbeat and I'll try to include things that are festive or just feel Christmassy.

Who are your favourite artists/bands right now?

I'm listening to a lot of Lainey Wilson, Haim, obviously Shania Twain, and  I'm really loving the Blossoms, 1975, and Fletcher.
