With 10 million streams across all music platforms, clide is for sure one to watch this year. With loyal fans and even Katy Perry by his side, clide’s releasing many things in 2021. Read our interview with him below.

Being half american and raised in Berlin, how have these different cultures affected your music and your influences?

I grew up in a family of classical musicians, so that has connected me to music from a very young age. Even though I wanted to become a pro soccer player until I was 15. Berlin on its own is a very multicultural city, and being able to travel a lot and experience the American culture from a young age has definitely shaped me as a person and the music I’m creating.

As a rising artist it can be difficult to get attention from the right people. How do you feel about the attention you got from someone like Katy Perry?

It’s a big honor and compliment to be recognized by big names in the industry. I’m very grateful for the feedback I’ve received on my music so far!

How has that influenced the progression of your career?

It has opened a lot of doors and opportunities! The initial plan to go to the US in 2020 to meet people and work on music has been cancelled by corona, but I’m really looking forward to it once things are getting better again!

Getting into the music industry and receiving a lot of praise and exposure is very exciting. As your project evolves, do you think you may disconnect with your initial fanbase?

I hope it doesn’t and I don’t think it has so far, but I’ve realized that it’s easy to get caught up in numbers and the validation of others, which can also influence creative decisions and even disconnect yourself from the initial thing that made you start this. I’m consciously trying to distance myself from that, and create music that I am proud of, without having the main target to make it commercially appealing.

Your sound is this blend of pop and r&b as shown in in my mind that is perfect for the radio today. Do you see yourself being in the same circles as radio regulars like Lauv, Charlie Puth, and Jeremy Zucker?

These are definitely artists I look up to! I have lots of different influences from many genres though, like Hip Hop, Electronic and lately even Rock music. My sound is heavily influenced by Pop music, but I am always trying to be innovative and blend sounds from different genres to create a fresh sound!

Can you see their audience latching on to your sound?

Yes for sure! I think there are a lot of similarities.

We loved listening to your project in my mind. Can you tell us more about the EP, your favorite track, your favorite music video to film ect?

Thank you very much! The EP is basically a collection of songs I’ve written over the last two-three years put into a project. Many songs are self written and produced, which is why I connect to them really strongly. It feels like the first chapter in my career, so I’m super proud and happy to have it out. Every song is super personal and important to me, so it’s hard to pick a favorite, but the “lost” music video is probably my favorite, just because we went over to Portugal and had a great time shooting it!

Who do you see yourself collaborating with in this coming year?

I’ve just finished the second EP and there are gonna be feature guests this time. I can’t tell who it will be yet unfortunately, but a dream collaboration would be with G-Eazy, or Goody Grace.

We can definitely hear who your influences are but who are your favorite upcoming artists and songs right now?

Since I’ve started to check out music blogs, I’ve discovered so many crazy talented upcoming artists! One of my favorites right now is “Artemas”. I think his music is really dope. Other artists I recently discovered are “30” and “Wolf”. Those are definitely artists to look out for!
