Based in British Columbia, pop artist Connor Nelson has been one of our favourite up and coming artists lately. He’s released one solo single, and a collab, and he recently released an amazing new solo tune, titled “Energy”. Read our chat with the singer below.

Last week, you released a collab with Dreema, what was it like to work with him? and how did you record it, since the pandemic is happening?

It was amazing working with Dreema. He’s such a professional and so easy to work with so everything just flowed so easily. “Love Nobody” was actually recorded in my bedroom under a huge blanket of mine that I propped up.

You’re about to release “Energy”, which is a bit different than “psychic”, which part of the song did you work on first? did the creative process come easily this time?

Energy” is produced by my friend Noah Montemayor and when we started the song we focused on the production first. Once the song was finished all the lyrics kind of just came out of me, the song wrote itself to be honest. The creative process was interesting because I had more involvement with this song, I feel like there’s actually parts of me as a human within the song and that’s really cool.

Your first single “psychic” gained more than 100,000 streams, what was your reaction like when you found out?

Honestly not gonna lie, I thought my spotify got hacked. I’m so grateful that “Psychic” resonated with so many people and I can’t wait to see how people perceive “Energy”.

Could we expect an album or EP soon?

I’m going to wait until people actually know who I am and then i’ll think about releasing a project, but for now it’s all singles.

Our blog is all about up and coming artists and bands, are there any ones you’d like to give a shout-out to?

Oh my goodness there’s so many, I would definitely some of my favourite up and coming artists right now are: Jayde, Cate, Majo, Max Parker, and Alexis Lynn.
