Just Because: Claire Rosinkranz’ Version of a Coming-of-Age Movie.

Claire Rosinkranz calls herself a “sporadic” and “spontaneous” human being. That being said, it is no surprise that she is known for her upbeat, lighthearted production. She finds herself sticking to this overall vibe to cover up deep, vulnerable lyricism. When you think of Claire, you think of the beach and sunshine. Not to mention, her breakout hit, “Backyard Boy”, which singly handedly took over my TikTok ‘for you’ page in 2020 is the epitome of a song you want to spontaneously dance to. Her bubbly personality and aura shined through the dark times of the pandemic through her music.
At the age of 15, Claire made an EP and at the age of 16, she signed with Republic Records. Now, at the age of 19, Claire releases her debut album, Just Because — a collection of songs she wrote about her life as an 18-year-old. “It’s a window into my world as I’m growing up and navigating life. Enjoy stepping into my lil movie,” says Claire. The album is all about growing up and continuing with lighthearted production to pull her out of a dark time, where she says she would now lean more into the vulnerability, rather than try and cover it up.
Music has always been Claire’s processing system. She enjoys keeping a tight knit circle in who she is working on her music with to maintain the safe space and comfort music provides for her. While both her parents inspire her, making music with her dad specifically has created a safe space for her to use her voice and have authority that holds weight in a room.
Just Because is described by Claire as a coming-of-age movie. She went through unique, personal experiences and feels things very heavily. This, in turn, comes through in her music. During the making of the album, Claire was healing, and it brought her peace to work on something that allowed her to put those feelings into something [Music] she cares so deeply about. According to Claire, it felt effortless to make the album partially because she worked with people who made her feel safe and comfortable. Claire mentions the anger, sadness, and hurt she felt and how helpful it was to sing it out and have it leave her mouth. It is safe to say that although Claire releases such sunshine-infused produced songs with lyrics that come from a feeling of hurt, she hopes people feel a little bit of everything when listening to Just Because; she hopes people feel full and not just listen to a song and brush it off.
