Chappell Roan — The Midwest Princess Taking Over Through the Rise and Fall.
Written by Sammy Wrogé
Singer/songwriter, Chappell Roan, is a true Midwest princess born and raised in Missouri. The now LA-based artist maintains her Midwest routes through the recent release of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
In 2022, Chappell released, “Pink Pony Club,” a song about her move from a small town in the Midwest to finding herself in West Hollywood. Prior to the album’s releases, Chappell teased her singles “Red Wine Supernova” and “Kaleidoscope,” which spiked excitement amongst her forceful fanbase. Chappell is an artist that strives for creative control. This is seen in the music video for her song, “HOT TO GO!”, which is shot in her hometown.
“I just wanted the campiness of my small, Route 66 home,” says Chappell when describing the “HOT TO GO!” music video. “I just wanted my grandparents in it, bizarre outfits, and to show the character of Chappell in the hometown.”
Known for her bold and eyebrow-raising hooks, lyrics and unhinged messages, fans become ecstatic to see her back on the road after opening for Fletcher as she embarks on her Midwest Princess Tour across the US and Canada and later opens for Olivia Rodrigo across the country.
Chappell Roan speaks out on her own excitement towards her headlining tour, specifically for the local drag queens who will be setting the scene for the night before Chappell takes the stage. The acceptance and environment to ‘come as you are’ Chappell enforces at her shows is yet another reason it’s easy to be a fan. Chappell shares her story on sexuality and the importance of including local drag queens at her shows with resources to donate and give the LGBTQ+ community the safety, comfort, and freedom to be who they are now that she did not initially have growing up.
Be sure to keep up with Chappell Roan and catch her live for a show you do not want to miss!
